Notification of testing a dog’s suitability for therapy work

Do you have a well-socialized and obedient dog? Have you perhaps sometimes thought of spending part of your free time with your dog for work among children, teenagers and elderly people? Would you like to become with your pet a therapy pair and a member of our Society? If your answers are affirmative, then the rest of this text is just right for you.

On the basis of a decision by the Professional Committee of the Tačke pomagačke Society we are advertising testing for the suitability of dogs for therapy work.

On the basis of a decision by the Professional Committee of the Tačke pomagačke Society we are advertising testing for the suitability of dogs for therapy work.

The testing will be carried out in the second half of January 2018 at the Society’s premises, Šmartinska cesta 152, Ljubljana. Candidates who apply will be informed in writing in due course about the exact date of the testing. 

The cost of testing is 35 EUR. Payment must be made by 12 January 2018 at the latest to the bank account SI56 0202 7025 6690 427, BIC (SWIFT): LJBASI2X, namen (purpose): testiranje (testing). Naslov (address): Društvo Tačke pomagačke, Šmartinska c. 152, Ljubljana.

A personal discussion with the handlers will be carried out by a committee for the selection of candidates for a trainee-handler of a therapy dog. 

Candidates are obliged to include with their application for testing:

  • a motivational letter, which must include a short biography, and state how much time will be given to voluntary work, the reasons for wishing to become a voluntary worker, and where the candidate could work as a future therapy pair.

Also obligatory enclosures for the dog:

  • a copy of the pedigree or for mixed breeds a copy of the passport,
  • proof of having passed the A or B-BH examination,
  • the CRP entry (Central Registry of Dogs) showing that the dog does not have the status of a dangerous dog.

The age of the dog: at least 12 months.

Only those candidates who have paid the cost of testing in due time and have supplied a complete application will be invited for testing (with instructions enclosed).
